Q1: How to join ECE Elite team for the 2023-2024 season?
Answer: Please follow below 4 STEPS to participate 2023-2024 ECE Tryouts.
- STEP 1: Register CHRVA Membership …………..–>> Register with CHRVA HERE

Q2: ECE’s Tryouts Guideline?
Answer:
ECE requires all participants abide by ECE’s Tryouts Guidelines listed as follows,
- ECE’s Tryouts Fees are NONREFUNDABLE even if the participant is unable to attend due to any reasons such as illness, or even if the participant did not receive any offer from ECE to make any ECE Elite Team, etc.

ECE takes COVID-19, Flu, and any respiratory infectious diseases very seriously. For the safety of all of our families and participants, DO NOT ATTEND ECE’s tryouts IF ANY OF THE FOLLOWING APPLIES: (1). you have any of the symptoms of COVID-19 like, Flu like, respiratory infectious disease like, or have received a positive COVID-19 test result in the five days prior to a scheduled tryouts. (2). you are required to quarantine due to exposure.
- Face Covering is OPTIONAL while ECE continues to adhere to USAV and CDC’s COVID guidelines.
- Student athletes are required to bring their own knee pads and bottled water (sufficient for at least 2-3 hours of practice).

Q3: How to determine the AGE GROUP for players?
Answer: Please determine the player’s AGE GROUP by visiting CHRVA AGE DEFINITIONS.

Q4: How to register CHRVA membership for 2023-2024 season?
Answer: When register with CHRVA, choose either New Member or Previous Member (returning/renewing membership). You can select either one of the following membership:
(1). select “Annual Membership: “$55 Regular Jr Girls 9-17 (full membership)” ;
(2).select “Annual Membership: $55 Regular Jr Girls 18” ;
(3). select “Limited Membership: Junior Tryout- 10 days Membership” – valid ONLY during the tryout season”.
- If you are selected for a team, you will need to log back into CHRVA and upgrade your player’s CHRVA membership to the full-season membership (pay additional $35).
- *** It is extremely important that you use the same email address (PARENT email) for both your SportsEngine account and your CHRVA membership account! Please do not have the player register themselves using their own email. *** SportsEngine has the option for FAMILY/Household ACCOUNT and the Account Holder must an adult/parent/guardian. Players/children may have their own Profiles and can be under this FAMILY/Household ACCOUNT. (See the clarification about FAMILY ACCOUNT, Account Holder, and Player/Children’s sub-profile here )

(2). Click on “Household“ and then click on the player’s card

Q5: Does the player must register with CHRVA first before participating ECE’s tryout?
Answer: Yes, all players have to be registered with USA Volleyball through the CHRVA region to be eligible to participate in tryouts. This is required by USAV Chesapeake Region.

Q6: Does the player must attend ECE’s tryout to join ECE Elite team for the 2023-2024 season?
Answer: Yes, the player have to attend at least ECE’s tryouts to be considered for joining an ECE Elite team.

Q7: Can the player attend more than one ECE’s Tryouts? And if so, does the player pay fees base on the number of tryouts?
Answer: Yes, players are welcomed to attend multiple ECE’s tryouts during CHRVA Open Tryout Period. However, ECE strongly suggests players to attend the tryout according to their AGE GROUP for the reason that coaches of the respectful AGE GROUP will be present and can answer questions adequately. Players pay one tryout registration fee once and are allowed to attend multiple ECE’s tryouts.

Q8: Can I receive refund if I withdraw, unable to attend any tryouts due to illness/emergency/other conflicts, or not making a team after tryouts and I have completed the registration and made the payment?
Answer: No, ECE’s Tryout registration fee is non-refundable.

Q9: What happens after the tryouts? When can the player expect to hear about the offer to make a team or not making a team?
Answer: Typically within 72 hours, players will be presented with offer letters in writing at tryouts or/and be notified via email from ECE coaches only if they have been selected to join an ECE Elite team for the 2023-2024 season. Based on playing skills, experiences, and the need to balance team rosters, players may be asked and permitted to play up an age level per the coach’s’ decision.
Players invited to join an ECE Elite team will have until the end of the CHRVA Open Tryout Period to accept or decline a team invitation. CHRVA permits an offer be made after CHRVA Open Tryout Period without the expectation of a waiting period. Players may also be waitlisted and will be contacted if space becomes available. Players on the waitlist will be called up by coaches based on the availability of player positions and the player’s relative skill and commitment to contribute to ECE’s Elite team. Invitations to players on the waiting list will be extended via email if a space on a team roster becomes available per the coach’s decision.
