ECE Coach – Emily Cheng
Emily is excited to lead the 16 Hurricanes as the Assistant Coach with ECE. Coach Emily has three years of high school varsity experience, with 3 seasons in Wootton High School Girls’ volleyball and 2 in Coed volleyball. She served as Captain of the Coed team for one season. The Girls team won the Montgomery County champion title for 3 consecutive years, as well as the state regional champion title for 2 years. Coach Emily is also a proud ECE Alumna who played four seasons under the coaching of Coach Lucas and Coach Dayu. She has been the setter and L/DS of ECE’s 18 Typhoon team, which concluded a strong season with a Gold medal in the Shamrock Showdown Volleyball Tournament. Additionally, the 18 Typhoon made the Gold bracket division in the 2023 Capitol Hill Volleyball Classic Tournament and was ranked by AES in the top 10 of the entire Chesapeake region in 2022-2023. Before joining ECE, coach Emily has been trained in CCACC’s volleyball clinic by Coach Joy and Coach Dayu for four years. During the summers of 2022-23, Emily played on the CYC Women’s volleyball team.
Besides volleyball, Emily also plays the flute in her high school band. She has been selected as a member of the 2024 Maryland All-State Senior Band. She is honored to perform with over hundred of highly competitive instrumentalists from state of Maryland in February.
