ECE Coach – Andrew Xu

Coach Andrew is excited to be the co-coach for ECE 16U FMS and assistant coach for ECE 17U in his fourth season with ECE. He is ready to apply his volleyball knowledge and leadership skills to lead athletes to a successful season. In high school years, he played on the Thomas S. Wootton High School Coed team for there seasons as well as in the Volleyball Practice’s (TVP) grass league for two seasons as a defense specialist and a wing spiker.
Coach Andrew has been trained by coach Joy and coach Dayu for seven years, has been taking the role as assistant coach helping in various clinics in the past four years, assistant coach of ECE’s 17 Tsunami team in 2021-2022,  head coach of ECE’s 16 Cyclone team in 2022-2023, and head coach of ECE’s 15 Storm team in 2023-2024.
Outside of volleyball, coach Andrew has taught robotics to elementary school kids through the University of Maryland, College Park and was part of UMD student safety and security team as a University of Maryland Police Aide Supervisor in the Police Auxiliary Unit. Coach Andrew hopes to bring his experiences both on and off the court to develop players’ physical fitness, court knowledge, and technical skills to cover individual weaknesses and strengthen team synergy.
